Louis Vuitton × Pat McGrath: Inside La Beauté Louis Vuitton (and how to shop it with intention)

Updated: Aug 27

At The Glamour Diary, beauty is part ritual, part reset. So when Louis Vuitton tapped Dame Pat McGrath to lead its first-ever color cosmetics line, we paid attention not just to the sparkle, but to what this launch means for women who are rebuilding routines with clarity and confidence. Louis Vuitton has officially debuted La Beauté Louis Vuitton with McGrath as Cosmetics Creative Director, blending runway artistry with the Maison’s craft-first approach.

Quick facts (the need-to-know)

  • What it is: LV’s debut makeup collection, creatively directed by Pat McGrath.

  • What’s in it: 55 LV Rouge lipsticks (satin + velvet-matte), 10 LV Baume tinted balms, and 8 LV Ombres eyeshadow palettes.

  • Launch timing: Rolling out August 29, 2025.

  • Pricing: Lipsticks $160 (refills $69); palettes $250 (refills $92).

  • Packaging & objects: Refillable cases with LV design codes; accessories nod to the house’s travel heritage (think vanity vibes, LV flower motifs).

What stands out

McGrath’s brief was “freedom” a broad, expressive shade library across classic reds, modern nudes, and editorial brights. If you love a signature red, look at 854 Rouge Louis; if you’re team neutral, 203 Rose Odyssée is a refined sienna-rose. (Both sit inside the 55-shade LV Rouge range.)

Campaign-wise, LV put range and representation front and center, with imagery photographed by Steven Meisel and looks styled to flatter deeper complexions as much as fair—something our community cares about deeply.

Is it worth it?

The line is unapologetically luxury. The refill system softens the long-term spend and waste, while the formulas and cases are meant to feel like collectible objects. If you’re in your “intentional glow-up” season, here’s how to shop with clarity:

How to shop intentionally

O

  1. Pick your power category. If lipstick is your everyday signature, start with LV Rouge (satin for comfort, velvet-matte for impact). If you prefer minimalism, go LV Baume for sheer tint + care.

  2. Swatch by undertone.

    • Warm/olive: brick, terracotta, caramel nudes.

    • Cool/neutral: blue-red, berry, mauve nudes.

  3. Choose one “forever” shade, then refill. Treat the case as your keepsake and rotate refills seasonally.

  4. Eyes last. If you already have a neutral palette, consider an LV Ombres quad that fills a gap (all-matte basics or a color-story you don’t own).
